150,000 condoms are being handed out to the athletes in the Olympic Village. 50% more than Beijing 2008.
15 free condoms are being provided to each of the 10,500 athletes with supplier Durex quoted as saying they “are ready with more”. During the games of 2000 in Sydney an extra 20,000 condoms were shipped in after the original 70,000 ran out.
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London has been quoted as saying that the 10,500 athletes will “inspire a generation” rather than “create a generation”
